Flora Reads and is Bilingual
Flora likes to pretend to read us books before she goes to bed. We say pick out your "Nigh Nigh Books" and she says, "I will read one to you" as if she is bestowing quite a rare treat. Tonight, she chose "Goodnight, Sweet Butterflies". She started the book with, "Goodnight dear darlings. It is time to count the butterflies. One, two, three, four, five, six, siete, ocho, nine, ten".
Ava is a Master of Historical Facts
Today at school, Ava made a lovely art project with a Columbus Day theme. It was a picture of a sunny day, an ocean and three sailing ships...the Pinta, the Niña, and the Santa María. I asked her to show it to Flora and tell her a little about Christopher Columbus. This is what she said...
"Flora, this is a picture of Christopher Columbus on one of his ships. He was the very first person to ever see the Indians. He was trying to sail to China but the wind blew him the wrong way and he got to go to India! Indians lived in India way before we got here. They were the first ones in India. Flora, Indians lived right here. Flora, look at that tree (in the backyard). That tree was planted here way after the Indians already lived right here in Billings."
